Lord Cavendish of Furness
Lord Cavendish lives on the Holker Estate and has been a member of the Guides over the Sands since he succeeded his father as Trustee in 1972.
The family have always enjoyed of the estuary environment, riding and walking on the sands and swimming on the incoming tide. He has recently moved from Holker Hall and he now looks directly over sands on the Leven Estuary.
In addition to his association with the Trust, Lord Cavendish has been involved with numerous local organisations and has spoken in Parliament in support of measures to protect Morecambe Bay.
Richard Gerald Lancaster lives at Kent Bank near Grange over Sands overlooking Morecambe Bay. Richard (Rex) has spent his whole life in the area except for the time he of being called for service in HM Royal Marines from 1944-47. After which he returned to the family butcher business John Asplin in Main Street Grange over Sands, where he remained until his retirement in 1982.
Shirley Cahill lives near Ulverston overlooking Morecambe Bay. Shirley has spent her whole life in the area, and for many years was the owner/proprietor of a delicatessen and floristry business in Ulverston. She then became the first appeal co-ordinator and official fundraiser for St Mary’s Hospice. Since retiring Shirley has been an active member of the WI and continues her love of gardening and ‘bay watching’.
